Lieber Gott
Wenn das Schweigen dich umgibt
wird ein Lied zum Gebet
und ich warte so auf eine Antwort
Ich such das Licht das die Flamme entfacht
Wer führt mich durch die dunkle Nacht
Geht ein Wort von Mund zu Mund
siegt die Menschlichkeit allein
dafuer lohnt es sich zu leben
Solange Hoffnung für mich Frieden heisst
geb ich die Hoffnung auch nicht auf
Lieber Gott wenn es dich gibt
zeig uns deinen Weg
eh das Boese in uns siegt
Dass es noch Gutes gibt
daran glaube ich
Ich schwoere dazu stehe ich
Wenn die Hand ins leere greift
wird ein Fluestern zum Schrei und
ich frage mich wer wird ihn hoeren
Brich dein Schweigen
und lass uns nicht allein und
hilf uns aus unserer Einsamkeit

and so I wait for an answer
I seek the light that the flame ignites

that humanity alone triumphs
that it is good to be alive
so long as hope for me is called peace
I will not surrender my hope
When the hand grasps emptiness,
a whisper becomes a cry
and I ask myself who will hear it
break your silence and do not abandon
us and help us from our isolation
Dear Lord if you will
guide us in your ways
before evil can defeat us
Our decency will triumph
I believe, I can swear to it.
Dear god if you are there
reveal your presence,
tell us of your coming before
the evil in us triumphs
there is still decency in us
