Roadie
Was niemand sonst gern tat,
Ohne ihn
Lief nichts,
auf der Tournee,
Und sein Job,
Der heißt
Roadie
Ohne ihn
Lief nichts,
Daß es ihn gab,
War selbstverständlich.
Er nahm oft Aufputschpillen,
Sonst hätte er`s nicht geschafft,
Ohne Schlaf die Nächte
irgendwie doch durchzustehn.
Die Show, die machten andre,
Ihm lief kein Mädchen nach.
Früh am Morgen war er schon
on the road again.
Denn die Show must go on.
Ohne ihn
Lief nichts,
auf der Tournee,
Und sein Job,
der heißt
Roadie.
Ohne ihn
Lief nichts,
Daß es ihn gab,
War selbstverständlich.

Roadie
He remained standing in shadows
Never stood in the spotlight
And his name was not shown on the marquee
He was the man for everything
that no one wanted to do
He was the Roadie, and he traveled
through the land with the band
And for what went wrong, he was blamed
Yet mostly it was, "yes, okay"
And before the show he set-up, and after
He roamed about until three
Without him
Nothing ran
on the tour
And his job, was called
Roadie
Without him
Nothing ran
What he gave was taken for granted
He often took on what he
Shouldn't have done Without sleep, somehow he got through the night
The show ended differently for him
he picked-up no girls afterward
Early in the morning he was
already on the road again
The Rock and roll wouldn't let him go
He stayed on with the tour
Even if he only stood in back of the flood lights
And drove the bus for us
But one night he simply collapsed completely
And all wondered, from what
He stayed behind and another jumped in
because the show must go on
Without him
Nothing ran
on the tour
And his job, was called
Roadie
Without him
Nothing ran
What he gave was taken for granted
